Press Release
AIDS Concern Launches World AIDS Day 2020 ZERO Stigma Virtual Coffee Truck
(25th November, 2020, Hong Kong) To celebrate World AIDS Day on 1st December and the 30th anniversary of the charity, AIDS Concern launched the World AIDS Day 2020 ZERO Stigma Coffee Truck. The event is sponsored by HSBC. Participants are encouraged to watch educational messages brought to us by the cast of SUK SUK (the movie) about HIV prevention and answer simple questions on the event page (http://accoffeetruck2020.aidsconcern.org.hk) to receive a coffee redemption code sponsored by THE COFFEE ACADEMÏCS. The code can be used to redeem a free cup of coffee upon any spending at the designated branches of THE COFFEE ACADEMÏCS.
The ZERO Stigma Coffee Truck is an initiative of AIDS Concern to raise public’s attention to the stigma that people living with HIV is facing. This year, we are using the theme “WE ARE ALL POSITIVE” meaning that we, as human, are all the same. With the medical advances, the life expectancy of people living with HIV is comparable to those who are not infected. While the word “positive” can both mean an HIV status and an attitude towards life, it can be applied to all of us. AIDS Concern hopes that the public can join forces with the charity, treating people living with HIV equally and actively seeking the correct information about HIV/AIDS prevention. All these contribute to a society with ZERO stigma.
Supported by film director Ray Yeung, actors Ben Yuen, Tai Bo, Patra Au and Siuyea Lo, the coffee truck also features video clips with educational messages. The first two days of the event (29th and 30th November) will be specially designed for medical professionals, to thank them for their tremendous effort on reducing the stigma towards people living with HIV. The promotional clips also aim to provide frontline personnel with the latest HIV/AIDS prevention and management information. From 1st December, World AIDS Day, the coffee truck will be opened to public in the hope to reach a wider audience and stay positive in reaching the 3 ZERO target of AIDS Concern : ZERO new HIV/AIDS infections, ZERO stigma for people living with HIV and ZERO AIDS deaths.
