Press Release
AIDS Concern Launches HIV+ Virtual Art Exhibition
(22nd March, 2021, Hong Kong) Since its establishment in 1990, AIDS Concern has been dedicated to the support for people living with HIV. The charity aims to provide medical as well as psychological aids for people in need.
With the mission in mind, AIDS Concern has invited a professional expressive arts therapist to provide a series of therapy sessions for people living with HIV, finding the peace of mind in the art process. The art therapy helped participants to explore their responses, reactions, and insights through pictures, sounds and other explorations, thereby growing participants’ self-awareness and confidence. In March 2021, AIDS Concern also held a Japanese ink wash painting workshop for people living with HIV. With the theme of pets and animals, participants had a chance to practice the basic techniques in ink wash painting, while observing and expressing the beauty in nature.
All 17 art pieces would be exhibited through an online gallery for a year (22nd March 2021 – 21st March 2022). The exhibition comprises works of arts with 4 main themes, “Circle”, “Love”, “From my hand, to my tree” and “Pet”. Viewers are welcome to leave their thoughts and comments online and show their support to people living with HIV.
In the past year, most regions in the world have experienced havoc brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. While it affected the world economy in general, it also brought a negative impact on people’s emotions and mental health. AIDS Concern hopes to deliver the message of love and care through the art exhibition and more importantly, an understanding to people living with HIV.
