AIDS Concern 2018 Light Up the Night Gala Dinner
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the AIDS Concern 2018 Light up the Night Gala Dinner on 14th September at The Langham, Tsim Sha Tsui.
The event raised a net total of $700, 000. The money donated will support AIDS Concern’s local action on youth sex education, provide HIV care and support services to people living with HIV.

All seats were sold out at the event with over 280 guests attending and over 90% auction items were sold. We are grateful to the title sponsor The Langham, Tsim Sha Tsui. We are also grateful to all of the product sponsors who provided free items for the live auctions, silent auctions and table prizes. Also, we would like to thank different sponsors in providing different complementary services on-site.
The event was organised by a large team of volunteers and staff at AIDS Concern. The performers and so many people working on the presentation and production of the evening worked for free as well – thank you to each and every one of them.
Mr. Andrew Chidgey, Chief Executive of AIDS Concern said:
“This year, with the proceeds of the gala we will focus on introducing HIV self-testing, PrEP education and support for ethnic minorities at risk of HIV.
We need to increase the HIV testing rate in Hong Kong so we can detect new infections earlier and get people onto treatment.
Research studies prove the effectiveness of PrEP. We will press the government to introduce PrEP in the public health system. We will also educate the community so that they can access PrEP safely.
We will also help Indonesian and Malaysian women at risk of HIV to understand the risk and get help.
With your generous support we can stop HIV.”
We look forward to welcoming guests and companies to participate in the 2019 gala. If you have questions about the event or can think of ways to support AIDS Concern’s mission please contact us.
