AIDS Concern Appoints New Chief Executive
The board of directors (the “Board”) of AIDS Concern Foundation Limited hereby announces that Andrew Chidgey is to step down from the post of Chief Executive of AIDS Concern with effect from 15th November 2022. Andrew, with vast experience and pioneering ideas in the field of HIV/AIDS, has been a successful and inspiring leader of the charity since his appointment in 2013. During his time at AIDS Concern, he has introduced new, positive changes with great impact to the community. He advocated for the introduction of HIV and other STI self-tests in the charitable sector, as well as the establishment of an LGBTQ+ community clinic that provides the much-needed inclusive sexual health service in Hong Kong. Andrew has also led AIDS Concern to bring together local and international experts to share insights about HIV/AIDS in our annual HIV Conference. Now, he has decided to start a new chapter and we thank him for his continued contribution to AIDS Concern, the LGBTQ+ community and the rights and well-being for people living with HIV.
Jerome Yau has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive of AIDS Concern and will take up the role from 10th January 2023. Meanwhile, Andrew will be assisting for a smooth transition. Jerome is the co-founder of Hong Kong Marriage Equality and currently working as the Vice-Chair and CEO of Pink Alliance. He was previously the treasurer in the Board of AIDS Concern. As well as being a communications professional with more than a decade of solid experience in both the business and the charitable sector, Jerome plays a central role in the development of LGBTQ+ work in Hong Kong. The Board is confident in his capabilities to lead AIDS Concern in the development LGBTQ+ friendly services to the community.
