AIDS Concern’s “Red and Silver” Charity Dinner

Generous support from Celebrities and artists in town

On 5th December (Friday), AIDS Concern has held a “Red and Silver” Charity Dinner at the HarbourFront – Club One, Kowloon Bay. The Charity Dinner was organised for local AIDS organisations and partners who support work on HIV/AIDS and was the prologue of AIDS Concern’s 25th anniversary celebration in 2015. Money raised at the Charity Dinner will be used to support local HIV/AIDS prevention, education and services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Suen Yiu Tung, Vice-President of the AIDS Concern Board of Directors, thanked everyone for their support in his welcoming speech. He said that the number of HIV infections is increasing and that more and more young people get infected, meaning that collaborations to reverse the epidemic become extremely crucial. This charity dinner would be an excellent chance to invite the commitments of creating “TRIPLE ZERO” Hong Kong together - ZERO new infections, ZERO stigma and ZERO AIDS deaths.

Dr. Andrew S. Yuen, one of the patrons of AIDS Concern pointed out that HIV/AIDS was used to be a taboo in Hong Kong society. Fortunately with the recent medical advancement, AIDS has become a chronic disease rather than an incurable disease. Although discrimination and unfairness still exist, he believes that with the support from different social sectors, AIDS Concern can increase its impact on reversing the epidemic.

In addition, the Charity Dinner was widely supported by celebrities and artists in town including Mr. Francis Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Occasions PR & Marketing Ltd; Renowned Designer anothermountainman (Mr. Stanley Wong); Local Supermodel Ms. Janet Ma; Celebrity Mr. Walter Hau; Fashion Model Mr. Jeremy Wong; Famous Writer Miss Zita Law; Miss Bonnie Xian Se-Li and Miss Michelle Wai, Artists of the Emperor Entertainment Group; Fashion Designer Miss Lilian Kan and more (in no particular order).
