RTHK interview “Open Line, Open View” (《自由風自由Phone》)
21 May 2014 (Wednesday), AIDS Concern was interviewed by RTHK current affair program “Open Line, Open View” (《自由風自由Phone》) about PLHIV being rejected by elderly homes owing to their HIV+ status.
It is claimed by some elderly homes that HIV/AIDS is highly contagious and their staff are not willing to take care PLHIV. However, PLHIV are protected by the Disability Discrimination Ordinance which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in the provision of goods, services and facilities. AIDS Concern will attend the Joint Subcommittee on Long-term Care Policy Meeting on next Monday, 26 May and speak on the above issues too.
