AIDS Concern Gala 2016 – Celebrate the Difference
AIDS Concern was established in 1990 as the first non-government charity organization committed to the service of AIDS care in Hong Kong. Our support for people living with HIV has been taking more referrals as the epidemic increases. However, about one-third of AIDS Concern income is from the Government. Such funding is mostly one-off for a specific project in a designated period of time. We need corporate and public support to raise funds to sustain services not offered by the Government.
According to the Health Department figures, Hong Kong recorded 188 new HIV cases in the second quarter of this year, the third highest count for a three-month period since reporting began in 1984. It showed a persistent surge in HIV infection among youth. We therefore scale up our ambition to deliver a high class event to ‘The Pop Art Gala’. It will take place on the evening of Friday 25th November to raise money to educate the youth towards HIV prevention and care.
The Langham Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui is the title sponsor for the evening. This is excellent news as they will help to ensure a spectacular evening with great food, wine and entertainment. They are giving a very good price which means that a high proportion of funds from the evening will go to the charitable work.
We believe it would be a great event that does education and awareness and provides a positive image, positive identity and anti-stigma to the target group of people including the LGBT, high net worth individuals and professionals (including bankers, lawyers and doctors) and people that care for public health.
